E.T.S.A. is very pleased to announce an exciting venue and programme for the E.T.S.A. 2001 Members' Conference to take place from 5 to 7 June 2001 in Wonderful Copenhagen. Spectacular Axelborg Conference Centre The Axelborg Conference Centre lies in the heart of Copenhagen, across the street from the renowned Tivoli Gardens. Conference plenary business sessions will be held in Axelborg's magnificent main hall. The Conference Centre was built in 1920 as the largest business house in Denmark and was first used as a bank, hence the large main hall with high glass ceiling and basement safe department (see www.bojesen.dk). Enchanting Tivoli Gardens On 6 and 7 June, participants will have full access to the fairy-tale Tivoli Gardens. The gardens will provide ideal conditions for networking with friends and colleagues from the industry (see www.tivoli.dk). Environmentally-friendly Scandic Hotel A block booking for hotel rooms has been made at the Scandic Hotel, looking out over Copenhagen's inner lakes. The hotel is a model of environmental-friendliness and is a 5 minute walk from the Axelborg conference facilities. See separate map showing location of Scandic Hotel, Axelborg Conference Center, Tivoli Gardens and railway station. Conference fee Conference registration will cost Euro 300. See the draft programme of the Conference for more details. Stretching the limits of physical and mental strength! Our keynote speaker is a Swedish adventurer in the true sense of the term. He has conquered peaks including the "impossible mountain", K2 and Everest. He has travelled extensively in the Arctic. Göran Kropp will stress the importance of preparation, target setting, self-confidence, stretching the limits and mastering the impossible. "Circular tour" and visit of Berendsen CL 2000 plant The programme will include a visit of Berendsen's Helsingborg plant in Sweden on Tuesday afternoon (5 June) or Thursday afternoon (7 June). This unique state-of-the-art plant uses an innovative production concept involving modules and self-steering employee groups empowered with close customer contact. The plant visit will be part of a "circular tour" crossing the new Oresund bridge linking Denmark and Sweden and a ferry crossing allowing time to take in the beautiful coastline between the two countries. Welcome reception and buffet (5 June) On the evening of 5 June, a welcome reception and buffet dinner will be held from 18:00 to 22:00 in the cadre of an astronomer's paradise: the Copenhagen planetarium's Cassiopeia Restaurant, just across the street from the Scandic Hotel. Feel free to come and go as you please! E.T.S.A.'s Danish members have kindly offered sponsorship for the event. We extend thanks to Jensen, Kansas Wenaas, Milliken and Sophus Berendsen.
